General Questions
What is a NerdMiner?
A NerdMiner is a small, low-power device (usually based on an ESP32 microcontroller) designed for solo Bitcoin "lottery" mining. It's primarily an educational tool and a fun hobbyist gadget that lets you participate in the Bitcoin network and learn about Proof-of-Work. It displays mining stats on a small screen.
How much Bitcoin will I actually earn?
It's crucial to understand that earning significant Bitcoin with a NerdMiner is highly unlikely. Mining a Bitcoin block solo is like winning a major lottery due to the immense competition (network hashrate). View it as an educational tool and a fun hobby with a slim chance of a big win, not an income source. Please read our Mining Disclaimer.
Is it safe to leave my NerdMiner running 24/7?
Yes! NerdMiners are designed for continuous operation. They consume very little power (around 1-1.5W), similar to an LED night light, so they won't significantly impact your electricity bill.
What do I need to use a NerdMiner?
You'll need:
- A NerdPulse Miner.
- A USB power source (e.g., phone charger, computer USB port) and a USB-A cable (usually included).
- A 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network with internet access.
- A Bitcoin wallet address (to receive any potential block rewards).
- A device (phone or computer) to perform the initial Wi-Fi setup.
Ordering & Shipping
How does shipping work for these miners?
To offer you the best value and the latest hardware, we partner directly with specialized manufacturers and developers. When you order, your NerdPulse Miner is shipped directly from them to you. This keeps our operational costs down and ensures you get a quality product straight from the source.
How long does shipping take?
Shipping times can vary. Typically, please allow 5-7 business days for order processing by our partners, and an additional 7-21 business days for delivery, depending on your location and customs processing if applicable. We'll provide tracking information as soon as it's available from our shipping partners. See our Shipping Policy for more details.
What is your return policy?
We offer a 14-day return policy for defective items. If your miner arrives damaged or non-functional, please contact us immediately with photos/videos of the issue. For more details, please see our Return Policy.
Technical & Troubleshooting
My NerdMiner isn't connecting to Wi-Fi. What do I do?
Common solutions include:
- Double-check your Wi-Fi password is correct during setup.
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz (most NerdMiners don't support 5GHz).
- Make sure the miner is within good range of your Wi-Fi router.
- Try restarting the miner and your router.
- Consult our Setup Guide or ask in our Community Discord.
What does the hashrate (e.g., 49KH/s) mean?
Hashrate is the speed at which your miner can perform hashing operations (guesses) per second. KH/s means KiloHashes per second (thousands of hashes). While 49KH/s is great for a tiny device, the Bitcoin network's total hashrate is in the ExaHashes per second (quintillions of hashes), which illustrates the lottery aspect.
